Pigment users can get the 3.5 update free, while the Energy Triad Sound Pack will set them back 29,99€/$. With the update of Pigments 3.5, Arturia has also released what they dub "The Energy Triad." These are three sound backs with 150 presets covering grime, drum and bass, dubstep, trap, cloud rap, drill, house, and future bass. In addition, Pigments 3.5 comes with 150 brand new patches crafted by the in-house sound designers at Arturia s well as world-class producers.
Also new are the dozens of wavetables inspired by everything from molecular structures to mineral textures and more. These are aimed at streamlining the sound design process with tweaked menus and simplified navigation. Pigments 3.5 promises to be easier, faster, and more reliable thanks to a number of subtle redesigns and workflow improvements. Arturia has also added native support for Apple's next-generation M1 processors with the 3.5 update. Pigments 3.5 now boasts an enhanced sample engine browser with subfolders plus the ability to click on any sample for a preview. With these, users can filter out certain frequencies in the feedback loop to get expanded control over the Comb Filter's behavior. Pigments already has a Comb Filter, but the 3.5 update expands it with new damped modes. This gives users easy access to the exact flavor and degree of grit they desire for their mixes.
Also new in Pigments 3.5 is a Distortion Module that combines 16 modes of distortion with built-in filtering. Arturia has stated that with this evolution of Pigments' sonic abilities, users can now dig deeper into the sounds of drum & bass, grime, dubstep, and more. Pigments 3.5 now features CrossMod, allowing users to create versatile frequency modulation behavior between both active engines. In addition to the new creative features introduced with the update, the software has also been tweaked and embellished to deliver the best sound design experience yet. Arturia recently released a free update for Pigments that they claim launches their one-stop softsynth powerhouse into a new era of sound.
